I like to go to the gym first thing in the morning, before heading to work. It helps me to start the day with a positive attitude. I feel good about myself, and I’m more likely to stay on track with a day of healthy eating.
I feel that my workouts are more energetic if I have coffee before the workout. But I also like to have a nutritional boost with my coffee, and have some protein after my workout. So this is what I do.
The night before, I put 2 rounded teaspoons of my favorite instant coffee, Elite coffee, in a coffee mug, add a few shakes of stevia from my favorite SweetLeaf stevia, and add a full cup of boiling water. I then stir it and refrigerate it overnight. In the morning, I put the chilled coffee into a shaker cup, add a few ounces of unsweetened almond milk, and a serving of one of my many favorite protein powders. For example: Organic Sunshine Chocolate Protein Powder, Advanced Designer Whey, or if I won’t be eating much breakfast afterwards, one of the meal replacement protein powders.
I shake it up, and then on the way to the gym, I drink half of it, and I eat a banana to get some additional carbs.
Then, after my workout, I drink the other half on the way to work.
I get a delicious drink, an energy boost, and a nutritional protein boost, all in one. Yum!!
